“we are standing now, quietly, in the new life” photo wcw
Juan Ramon Jimenez
I have a feeling that my boat
has struck, down there in the depths,
against a great thing.
And nothing happens!
Nothing … Silence … Waves
… Nothing happens? Or has everything happened
and we are standing now, quietly, in the new life?

I have been sitting with this poem for a while, perhaps trying to catch up with the fact that whatever that great thing is and however impermanent the silence and lapping of the waves on the sides of my boat, it does feel very much like we are standing in a new life.
Eagle and Gull observe the raw beauty and bounty of what humans have named ‘Nature’
Named, as if we are not standing as one with them in this ‘new life’.
Ironically, from where I’m sitting, and what I’m seeing in our sad country, what captures me in this photo is the mixed coloring of the eaglet, and the predominantly white gull- standing together by/in the one water of life.Maybe it’s because I just watched a video of an anti-ICE demonstration in New Orleans, chanting “ Immigrants are welcome here. “ Missing you.🇨🇦❤️😌🙏

So incredibly poignant. I do not sit idly by, watching and waiting. I am reconstructing myself so that I may meet this new life with purpose and new resolve , redefining my own truth and values , with new skills that I may offer this ailing world.
So grateful that you are posting again.
